Jewellery designed and handmade by Carmel Boerner (she/her/hers) in Penticton, BC,  Canada, on the lands of the Syilx Okanagan nation.

Mostly I make one-of-a kind art jewellery pieces for submission to exhibits. As an eternal student and lover of a deadline, I am inspired by exhibition calls and thrive on conducting research and exploring new materials and techniques, creating a piece around a concept. My work has been exhibited in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. 

My jewellery and my company name are inspired by the Japanese aesthetic wabi-sabi - nothing lasts, nothing is finished, nothing is perfect - which honours transience and accepts the passage of time with dignity and grace. Working in silver, I often use rusty objects, such as nails and spikes, in my jewellery. The presence of the maker is important and is intentionally made visible. My jewellery celebrates graceful aging, imperfection and the maker’s hand.

I am a graduate of Vancouver Community College's Jewellery Art and Design Program.  I've worked for 30 years in local government and non-profits ​in Canada and the U.S.   I hold a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and an MBA in Arts Administration, both from the University of British Columbia.​​​
